WORKSHOPS

BCSTEP holds workshops on financial aid and completing the FAFSA, the college application process, personal money management, college survival tips, finding scholarships and money for college, writing strong college essays, job interview skills, finding internships, and career options.

 

Our partner schools get tutoring support and our students benefit from programs such as Kaplan SAT Prep, student research, internships, or access to scientific conferences.

BCSTEP hosted a financial aid workshop given by Creative Connections. This workshop helped guide parents & students through the financial aid application process for college, and clarified college award letters. Studnets also attended individual meetings some days later.

A collaboration between the CSTEPs of Brooklyn College and Kingsborough Community College. Current college students answered questions about their experiences and best practices in college.

College Mentoring Program

A college mentorship program pairing high-achieving former STEP students with highly motivated rising seniors to help them navigate the college process. Topics include the Common, SUNY, and CUNY applications, creating a balanced college list, writing a strong college essay, understanding financial aid, and how to find scholarships and ways to pay for college.

BCSTEP Day of Service, Spring 2022
